Summary : In episode 11, the 5 remaining queens were asked by RuPaul to create puppets resembling one of the remaining queens, and impersonate them in the season's third mini-challenge; Sasha Velour won the challenge and was given the task to choreograph a special dance routine, resembling the elements of the LGBT community. Additionally, the contestants were asked by RuPaul to feature two runway looks and create an eleganza looks with a theme and materials provided to them; the first influenced by the traditional LGBT rainbow flag, the second incorporating unicorn aesthetics, and the final being a homage to American male group The Village People. During the judging, Shea Couleé and Sasha Velour received positive critiques. Shea Couleé was criticized for her rainbow look not matching the category, but was ultimately declared the winner of the challenge as Sasha Velour's looks were considered too high fashion and less drag. Alexis Michelle was criticized for all three looks, while Peppermint and Trinity Taylor received mixed reviews. Trinity Taylor was declared safe from the bottom two, while Alexis and Peppermint lip-synced against each other to The Village People's \"Macho Man\"; Peppermint won the lip-sync, and Alexis Michelle sashays away.
The ninth season of RuPaul's Drag Race began airing on March 24, 2017, on VH1. The returning judges included RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews and Carson Kressley. Fourteen drag queens (including one returnee) competed for the title of \"America's Next Drag Superstar\". The prizes for the winner are a one-year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics, a cash prize of $100,000, and a crown and scepter provided by Shandar. The full list of contestants was revealed on February 2, 2017.[1] This season saw the return of season eight contestant Cynthia Lee Fontaine, who finished the competition in 10th place.
The contestants reminisce over the season. Miss Congeniality was announced; previous Miss Congeniality and season 8 and 9 drag queen Cynthia Lee Fontaine announced that fellow contestant Valentina won the title, which sparked criticism amongst all other queens. During the end of the episode, RuPaul announced that the final four contestants would have to lip-sync in groups of two to see who advances to winning America's Next Drag Superstar.[32]
Winner of season 9 Sasha Velour has been quite active since their reign as queen. As one of the artsiest queens to ever grace the Drag Race stage, they have created many multi-faceted art pieces and performances since being on the show.
Today, Peppermint frequently collaborates with Drag Race season 8 winner Bob the Drag Queen on videos, podcasts, and live streams that often go viral. Coming later this year, she will be hosting her very own reality drag competition show called Call Me Mother. Peppermint has also made guest appearances in episodes of Pose and Saturday Night Live.
Charlie Hides is still the oldest queen to ever compete on RuPaul's Drag Race. In season 9, she was 52 years old. Hides was also notably one of the first contestants who was a well-known drag performer in both the U.S. and the UK prior to joining the show.
This week marks the season nine finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, and we're on the edges of our seats. The race is tight between Sasha Velour, Shea Couleé, Trinity Taylor, and Peppermint, but only one queen will be able to take home the crown. POPSUGAR was on the ground at the taping of the epic finale, and we were lucky enough to snag a minute with Peppermint ahead of the action. Although we were excited to see where she might end up, we were even more excited to talk about where she had been.
Just after you got a taste, RuPaul's Drag Race gave you the whole dessert. Logo's reality competition series announced its season nine cast Thursday in a trailer posted to their website. The trailer introduces fans to the crop of drag queens fighting for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar.
We already met her, but for those who haven't: Valentina is the only Los Angeles queen of the bunch, and as such will be playing on home turf this season. Notably, Valentina is a very cute boy out of drag, which is a great way to amass fans of the show. (Just ask season six's Milk or season seven's Pearl.)
It's another year, so here comes another batch of hopeful drag queens set for the new season of \"Ru Paul's Drag Race.\" On Friday (February 5), Logo revealed the 13 contestants that are going head-to-head for the crown and the network wants you to familiarize yourself with them. 59ce067264
